3 WAYS TO FENG SHUI YOUR OFFICE

  • Post category:Latest News

If you had to describe your office in five words, what would they be? Dark? Cramped? Boring? Gray? Unappealing?

If your office looks like many others, these words could be accurate. And it may seem like it’s normal and even practical for offices to look this way; after all, why spend money on decor and paint when you have a thousand other business matters to deal with?

The fact of the matter is, your office environment matters a great deal. Research shows that the right environment can make us more productive, happier, and even healthier. Here are a few ways to make your workspace the perfect place to get things done. The ancient Chinese art of Feng Shui lends a helpful guide to finding the balance and comfort in a space.

1. FIND A SPOT FOR YOUR DESK
Most desks seem to get dropped in a spot simply because they fit there. But don’t ignore where your desk is located, and where you face when you sit at it. Avoid having your back to a door; this creates unnecessary (and probably unconscious) tension. Try to steer your desk toward a pleasant place to look: a window, a plant, an art feature in your office.

2. LET IN SOME AIR AND LIGHT
It’s no secret that the natural world soothes and calms us humans. Unfortunately, in urban areas, too often it’s impossible to get clean air and natural light. If your office has windows, open them up and pull away those blinds. If not, introduce a few plants to purify the air and remind you of the outdoors.

3. DECLUTTER EVERY DAY
Your workspace probably goes from clean on Monday to a wreck by Friday. Although this is normal, be sure to give yourself the clean slate every day of a somewhat clear desk. This simple act of decluttering can make all the difference in your mental state.
