EASY SOLUTIONS TO COMMON PRINTER REPAIR ISSUES

  • Post category:Latest News

There are few things more frustrating than printer issues in the office. Paper jams, smudged ink, and error messages can stress out even the most laid back of employees. While some printer repairs require professional help, others can be fixed on your own. Take a look at some solutions to the most common problems before calling us in for repairs.

PAPER JAMS
Probably the most common–and most annoying–printer issue, but also one of the easiest to address. Paper jams are typically caused by dirt, dust, and debris. Periodically cleaning the printer and ensuring you are using the correct weight paper will help resolve this issue. Humidity can also cause paper jams, so make sure you fan out the paper before putting it in the tray. If paper jams are a regular occurrence, it might be time to have us check/replace the paper rollers.

FADED OR SMUDGED INK
If part of your document prints, but the rest is smudged or faded, take a look at your ink cartridges and printer settings. If you are set to economy or energy-save mode, turning it off will improve print quality. Faded ink typically indicates low ink and its time to replace the cartridge; smudged ink often indicates a fuser issue or damaged cartridge. Remove cartridges and be sure they are not damaged. Shake them up to help redistribute the ink. If installing new ink does not help, or you notice damaged or leaking ink cartridges, call us.

PRINTER ERROR
The most common errors can often be addressed with a few simple steps. The old “stand-by” of turning off the printer and/or unplugging it is a go-to for a reason: it usually works. Be sure that the printer is plugged directly into the wall, not a power strip/cord. Also, open the print queue and cancel any pending jobs before re-sending the document.

Despite modern machinery and advances in print equipment, printer repair is a necessity in today’s business environment. When you need help, Newcastle is here to get you up and running again.
